Pinellas Patriots Message Board › GENERAL DISCUSSION › Who Is Fit To Be The Governor of Florida

Rick Scott started HCA/Columbia from the ground-up. This was his "brainchild", this was "his baby". He sought investors, found capitol financing, populated the governing board with persons known to himself and help create the job descriptions of office personnel and the guidelines under which they would work.(to include making sure his insurance clerks knew how to legally bill Medicare, Medicaid and Tricare)
Rick Scott grew Columbia/HCA into a successful business. (albeit not an honest one. Success and honesty do not necessarily go hand in hand.) Now Rick Scott wants us to accept his excuse of "I didn't know what was going on." as a reason HIS company had to pay the highest civil fine ever recorded in the history of the United States? Rick Scott wears, as a badge of honor, the fact that he was never questioned, never subpoenaed, never deposed? Rick Scott has never said he was "sorry" or "ashamed" of the way HIS company stole millions of taxpayers dollars. Why was Rick Scott not questioned, subpoenaed or deposed? Only one statement gives reason to that. "Who says money can't buy justice!!!!" There is a legal term for former Chief Executive Officers of defunct and bankrupt companies such as Rick Scott and that is UN-INDICTED CO-CONSPIRATOR. Here is what logic tells me. If I started a company, if it was "my baby", "my brainchild" I would know everything about its finances, its personel, its financial holdings, its debts and its debtors, it's policies and the rules under which it must operate. My household is my company. I know where every penny is, who owes me and who I owe. I know where my kids are, who they are with and what they are doing. I know what the rules are and when to make adjustments to those rules. I budget to get the Big Ticket items and only splurge when its safe to do so. Ask me any question about my finances at any time and I can give you an up-to-the-minute report on the status of all my bank accounts, credit cards, mortgages, insurance payments, car insurance, flood insurance etc. You know why? Because it's "My Baby", "My Brainchild". I thought of it, I cultivated it, I grew it and it has become very successful. I want to protect it, so it behooves me to know everything there is to know about "MY Company." Rick Scott was happily collecting his million dollar paychecks while his company stole millions and millions from taxpayers. He no longer cared why he was successful his only concern was to stay successful, whatever it took. Columbia/HCA and it's admistrators, stole millions from Medicare, millions from Medicaid and millions more from Tricare (this is insurance for our armed forces) There are only two ways you can look at Rick Scott: 1. He is an out and out liar and crook. -or- 2. If he truly "didn't know what was going on" in his own company, what makes us think he would know what is going on in the state of Florida? Even if this is the truth, it places him in the unfit to serve column. The Office of the Governor of Florida should not go to the highest bidder, should not go to someone who admit-tingly says he is "disengaged in the day-to-day operations" or is yet again embroiled in another Healthcare scandal. (His free-standing health clinics, Solantic Urgent Care, are being investigated for providing false information on professional applications to the state of Florida) I do not want the state of Florida to go through the turmoil of watching our Governor take a "perp-walk" down the steps of the State Capitol Building bound by handcuffs!!!!!! I've worked in the healthcare field for over 20 years, as an Office Manager, Office Nurse and Hospital Nurse (I actually worked for Columbia/HCA while it operated at what is now St. Pete General.) And I can tell you that the government sends updates on Medicare, Medicaid and Tricare Billing on an almost daily basis. There are workshops you can attend to learn about the new guidelines and reimbursements come with written updates also. There is absolutely NO excuse for inaccurate billing. We have a national ICD-9 system (Diagnosis Index) and a CPT Code system (Procedure Index) that ties together all procedure codes and the diagnosis codes that goes with them in a seamless and efficient manner. When used HONESTLY billing is a very straight-forward function. It's only when you get creative (falsify office notes, operating notes, testing procedures, etc) and charge for things you didn't do or consistently charge for higher complexities, do the government auditors begin to take a closer look at your billing practices. In other words, you have to be extremely greedy and extremely stupid to get caught by the government for defrauding Medicare, Medicaid and Tricare. In conclusion, With all this being said--I cannot and will not vote for an "un-indicted co-conspirator" (fancy word for criminal) who refuses to say he was wrong and whose Healthcare business is once again under investigation for fraud. Vote for Rick Scott at your own peril and at the peril of the entire State of Florida. |

Ok so then Vote for some one who is double dipping two federal pensions, lost two senate races and is heavily involved in fraud. He would talk to Jim Greer day in and day out, he new the working of victory strategies and new that Greer owned it. He also make statements saying the legislator was not the place for openness.
So he was weak on Immigration, already get's 2 pensions and owe's people for everything they have given his campaign. We know he is friends with the same people Charlie brought into the Capital. So you say you believe in the constitution yet you act as if Rick Scott was found guilty he was not. He wasn't charged. Look at it like this, If you think Scott is a crook and (I don't) Then think of it this way they are both crooks only one is a politicians! Vote Scott |

If you don't think Scott is a crook, then I'm glad I have no business dealings with you.

If you don't think Scott is a crook, then I'm glad I have no business dealings with you. I don't know you from Adam, but personal attacks are not needed or called for. Again I think we are haveing to choose the lesser of 2 evils. Thanks for the character attack! |

McColllum should get his Military Retirement that was promised to him. When he enlisted into US Navy just like any other man who gave 23 years of service to our Country in our Military.
1) Does this mean that any veteran of US Military should not be allowed the run for office because some uninformed voters are jealous of what the Veteran has accomplished and earned? McCollum is lead attorney for 21 States law suit against Obama Care. AG McCollum was Chosen by all 19 State Attorney Generals. McCollum was not the one who made a CD and created a 501C political action committee in order to raise money to run for future office. McCollum was not put in to the Attorney General position by being appointed by Governor Crist. He was elected just the next AG will be. Just because the AG lives in the capitol of our great State at the same time as the Governor in no way means they think the same or are anything like each other. Rick Scott invoked the 5th amendment 75 times during his deposition involving Columbia / HCA. Scott had the best attorney’s therefore, it may not have been productive or an intelligent decision to spend tax payer’s money for a possible prosecution. This happens all the time when the Federal Government is involved and the Feds did have the lead decision making in the prosecution of the Columbia / HCA case do to Medicare being involved. 1) Some conservative healthcare policy experts questioned Scott’s involvement in CPR. 2) The FMA (Florida Medical Association) who knows of Rick Scott more than any of us have endorsed Bill McCollum. Why? As far as Greer is concerned, McCollum referred the case to the FDLE (Florida Department of law Enforcement) when it was appropriate to do so. The only tie he has to Greer is the same as any other registered Republican in the State of Florida has. The truth will come out in October and until then, everything is speculation! I have several police officers in my family and until SB70 was revised. I personally did not support the bill either and I have very strong feeling against illegal immigration. Once the two items below were resolved I was able to support SB70. 1) The police officers who were to enforce SB70 could be open to civil law suits. No matter how strongly I feel about illegal immigration. I cannot ask a police officer to do a job that he can openly be sued for everything he owns after he has put his life on line for everyday protecting me and my family. 2) There was also possibility of police officers on a power trip (and we have all seen one of them at one time in our life) to abuse the power of SB70 and strip us citizens of our constitution rights. Again once the Attorney’s were able to resolve this issue I could and will support SB70. Like the majority of the fine Citizen of The United States of America. Scott? McCollum? Doubts? What of Mike McCalister? --No negatives? (A vote for principle is never really wasted.)
