8/28 Restoring Honor Rally - Be a Part of History

Can you believe that 828 is only days away? Here are a few tips to help you prepare for this historic event.

* Register your bus: It’s free and will provide an estimate of how many services are needed at the rally. Register HERE

* Need a Ride? If you are still looking for seats on a bus please visit our BUS MAP to find a bus departing from your hometown that STILL has availability.

* Parking: Please note that for safety reasons, US Park Police and DC Metropolitan Police will not permit buses to drop anywhere downtown with the exception of RFK Stadium and Union Station.

* The DC Metro is your friend: Familiarize yourself with the Washington Metro. If you are coming to the rally, you will probably need to take the Metro at some point. The closest Metro station to the event is Smithsonian on the Orange and Blue Lines. The walking distance from the Smithsonian Metro Station to the event site is almost one mile. You can also take Metrorail to Foggy Bottom-GWU, Farragut West, Metro Center and Federal Triangle stations, all on the Orange and Blue lines, and Metro Center on the Red Line. Visit the Washington Area Metro Transit Authority siteto find locations for all the stations adjacent to the National Mall and to plan your trip. (All metro stations are ADA accessible. The National Mall and event site are also accessible to wheelchairs.)

* Be there: Remember, the rally will start at 10:00 a.m. and ends at 1p.m. Please take this into consideration when making your travel plans.

* Be prepared: For a list of what to bring and what not to bring to the rally, please watch this VIDEO.

Now that you are geared up and prepared, we wish all of you safe travels and can’t wait to see you there!

Even though this video instructs you to bring umbrellas, please do not. If it happens to rain, umbrellas obstruct the view of others. Instead, please pack a rain poncho.

Also, the weather forecast for DC from August 26th-29th is Sunny each day with daytime temperatures in the mid 80's and night time lows in the upper 60's.

Bring a roll of toilet paper as the Porta-Potties WILL run out!!! You will want to bring some sort of wet wipes as well.

And PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE bring an extra plastic bag to police the rally area afterwards. We want to leave OUR Lincoln Memorial and it's adjacent properties cleaner than before we got there. (That is our trademark)

Remember, NO signs of any kind. This is NOT a political rally. However, wear your FAITH, HOPE and CHARITY gear. If you ordered it, wear your Restore Honor hat and tee-shirt. Or, any other patriotic clothing you may have.

Fox Station in DC
Fox 5 (I can only believe “5” is the station number)

Places to Eat:

The Air & Space Museum has a Boston Market inside. When entering the museum, turn to the left and it is all the way to the end.

The Museum of The American Indian has a FABULOUS Restaurant!! (Actually my favorite) It is a little pricey but worth it for a snack. It serves regional Native American fair. You will find such things as Buffalo, Rabbit, roasted vegetables, Pumkin Soup, Smoked Salmon, Sassafras Tea and other foods cooked and served in traditional American Indian fashion.

There are Subway Sandwich shops all over DC however, they are sometimes a little hard to find. You can find one nearest you by going to:
www.subway.com/Application/locator/store.aspx

Union Station has many restaurants, ranging from Philly Subs, Italian, Chinese and much more. Union Station can be reached by taking the Metro Red line (to Glenmont) and exit at the Union Station Stop.

At the Chinatown/Gallery Place Metro stop, there is a MacDonalds, Chipolte Grille, Hooters, Duncan Donuts and a FABULOUS Seafood Restaurant. Also, visit Old Alexandra, use the Yellow line (to Huntington) or the Blue line (to Franconia) and get off at the King Street stop. Along King Street you will find Subway Sandwiches, Five Guys Burgers, Popeyes Chicken and many other restaurants. Also, while in Old Alexandra, stop by Christ's Church, this is the church George Washington attended while he was home at Mt. Vernon. You can take a (free) guided tour and actually sit in his pew!

STAY CLEAR OF THE HOT DOG VENDORS ON THE STREET!!!!!

List of What You Cannot Bring

• Umbrellas (my suggestion)
• NO signs (political or otherwise) as they may deter from the
peaceful message we are bringing to Washington.

• Firearms (either real or simulated)

• Ammunition

• Explosives of any kind (including fireworks)
• Knives, blades, or sharp objects (of any length

• Mace and/or pepper spray

• Helium balloons

• Sticks or poles

• Pocket or hand tools, such as "leatherman"

• Packages

• Large bags (anything larger than a backpack)

• Duffle bags

• Suitcases

• Weapons of any kind

• Aerosols
• Laser pointers

• Animals other than service/guide dogs

• Structures (i.e tents)

• Alcoholic beverages

• Other items that may pose a threat to the security of the event

Please remember that this is a peaceful rally. At any time during your trip to DC, please DO NOT place yourselves in a situation where you can become part of a confrontation. At all cost, avoid conversations and interactions with people who do not share our values. Please keep in mind Pinellas Patriots' sponsorship of Dr. Martin Luther King's Pledge of Non-Violence. I'm sure we will see folks with signs, you can bet these people are not part of any 9-12 organization. Let them wave them their signs. Some may try to engage you either verbally or even physically. Seek help immediately from a Restaurant Manger, Metro Platform Officer, Store Manager, Hotel Manager or Capitol Police Officer. Try your best to ignore them and remember the spirit of the day. RESTORE HONOR
