General Meeting~Guest Speaker Dr. David McKalip

As we schedule our second General Meeting for 2010, we are still facing possible Government takeover of our Health Care System. Every day, every week, every month that passes with this issue still looming over us, we can be VERY thankful! For if it wasn't for us, Patriots across this great country, this pending Legislation would already be law!

We are pleased to announce that Dr. David McKalip has offered to speak to us on the Health Care Issue facing this country and answer some of our questions afterwords!

Dr. McKalip is a private practice brain and spine surgeon in St. Petersburg, Florida. He served as the Chairman of the Council on Medical Economics for the FMA and lead the effort to write a health system reform plan for the FMA that focuses on individual financial empowerment of patients. Dr. McKalip founded Doctors for Patient Freedom and is working to ensure that individual savings, choice and competition create better and more affordable medical care for Americans. Dr. McKalip has written and spoken on the unintended consequences of expanded government and corporate control of health care financing and medical decision making including rationing, cookbook medicine, unsustainable economic models for government and unaffordable or unavailable private insurance products and financing options for patients. Don't miss this opportunity to hear Dr. McKalip speak!

There is still much to do as elections grow ever closer! After Dr. McKalip answers some of your questions, we will address our Pinellas Patriots business. Please feel free to email any of the organizers to suggest any items that you would like to see on the agenda. We will try to accommodate all requests based on time available.

If you plan on dining before the meeting, please arrive no later than 6:30 PM. If you will not be dining, please arrive no later than 7:00 PM. This will eliminate any distractions during the meeting. Our Guest Speaker will be introduced promptly at 7:00 PM. By starting promptly at 7:00 PM we should conclude no later than 8:45 PM.

Please make every effort to attend. This is the reason we are all here and every voice counts!

Attention New Members! We have a welcome package for those that attend!

In order to help offset the costs of events, Pocket Constitutions, printing, room rentals, etc., Pinellas Patriots will be accepting a $2.00 donation at the door. THIS IS NOT MANDATORY.

Great meeting: But I want everyone to memorize the answer to the question I had. It was - Yes, the insurance company pays a different price than an individual does. The reason is that the Insurance Company has a negotiated contract. This needs to change.

GREAT speaker. GREAT Patriots. Dr. McKalip is absolutely correct. Let America's healthcare delivery system be "steered" by the doctor-patient relationship, not our employers, not government bureaucrats, not mandated standards, not taxes and certainly not fines and jail time. --I still can't believe I have to say those kinds of things. Jail time? What parallel universe did I wake-up in?

Many thanks to Dr. McKalip for a very informative talk. I wish we could have allowed him more time. He is a wealth of information. There were so many new faces tonight and we thank each and every one for coming out - as well as the not-so-new faces. It's always great to spend time with my fellow Patriots.

I felt that the meeting overall was very well conducted and that Dr. McKalip speech was very good. I do have somewhat of a hearing problem and several speakers at the end did not use mic's so I did miss what they had to contribute. E.R.

Very appreciative that this fellow (and his family) came tonight to talk to us. It was interesting to hear his perspective of the problems of the healthcare system. Also what more problems will arise with Obamacare. It's sad that this man who has dedicated 17 years (more or less) to learn to become a neurosurgeon will be treating his patients under the supervision of a government worker under Obamacare. Thank you for organizing this meet up. Sincerely, Debbie Levitt
