I look at the "Oath" this way. I'll agree until I disagree. It's as simple as that.

Matt: Just to clarify. I don't think the oath says you have to vote on party lines. You still get to vote for whomever you like. I think what it really says is that you won't actively campaign for someone else. It's not to my liking, but it's not as heinous as some others I've been asked to take. In any event, the oath I took to defend the country as a Naval Officer supercedes the party oath and if it came to it, you do what's right. We need to be on the inside to change it.

Matt, you are right owr main focus right now is to get our good conservative candidates on the ballot and then elected. The are just one of the tools we need to use. Like everything else in this process it is a matter of numbers. We need to get more volunteers to get more petitions signed, and we need more real conservatives in the PCREC to change their antiquated system.

I do agree we have to take it back, however right now we have to focus on getting conservative candidates into office. The meeting IMHO was run poorly, it was draw out, it was hard to hear some people speak as well. Other wise it was great. :)

Kathy, Did you listen too the Pledge? You are taking an oath to protect the party. Or to vote along party lines over principle. (Example say Charlie was the (R) running and Marco was running as an (I) would you want to have to vote for Charlie because you took their oath?) I vote Principle over party and if a (D) happens to be running who is better than a (R) then I would vote for the (D).

I was there and agree we both Matt and Tom. The comments coming out of the mouths of some of the committeemen and members after the meeting were the same old party line retoric as they have always been." I'm for Bill Young because he has done a lot for me and the party". Asking what has he done you get no answer. As for Tom's comment, the only way to change the business as usual is for real conservatives that know the issues to take over the party and stop the moderate, left leaning republicans

Kathy. I was not at the meeting but have been going to REC meetings for many many years. Matt is right on target. But this is not a reason to despair - but to act. The party has literally hundreds of open spots on the executive committee and these would be easy to populate with our members. The party can and will change when the principled among us become the major force in who is elected to head the party itself. I urge everyone to become a member of the PCREC. Change the soul of the REC

Hi Matt, Just curious. What did you see happen or what was said that makes them seem to be business as usual and also "Party before Principle?" I know I was chatting several times so I must have missed something. Thanks!

Eric Forcade sounded great. More than I can say for the PCREC, they seemed to be a group of "Party before Principle". The meeting was drawn out, in my view they are not about change but business as usual.
